Zoë Z. Dean

I write crime, suspense, and mystery under the name Zoë Z. Dean. My first short story, "Getaway Girl," won the Robert L. Fish Award in 2015 and was listed as a Distinguished Mystery Story by Otto Penzler in The Best American Mystery Stories 2015; "Charcoal and Cherry" (Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine May/June 2017) received the 2018 Thriller Award for Best Short Story from the International Thriller Writers.

An Ellery Queen podcast of me reading "Getaway Girl" can be found here, and I did an interview with Grant Nebel of The Solute about crime fiction, Southern Gothic, and morality. My essay on James M. Cain is available at EQMM's website, and I also wrote about the first two pages of my short story “Strong Stomach” for Art Taylor’s site.
